Project Concept Proposal – Anakku

May 25, 2009 at 1:09 am (My Art Work)

Project Definition

I Joel Lee Jenn Jih (Student ID: 0708074) has been given a 7 weeks project on redesign a commercial website – Anakku (http://www.anakku.com/).
Anakku is a baby products store and boutique since 1973. Anakku’s wide range of baby products, built on a strong, solid foundation of premium quality, safety and reliability, are found in most department stores and major retail chains as well as having it’s very own boutiques. With the expansion of the company it also ventured to include a more comprehensive product range by introducing fashion-wear for babies and toddlers, feeding equipment, toiletries, diapers, accessories, strollers, playpens and more.
Thus, I was asked to redesign Anakku’s website with at least 8 HTML pages, and shows at least 3 levels of content structure. I’m not allowed to change the logo and its identity, and to reposition the brand.

Current Site’s Analysis Goals

The website is created for consumers and customers to have an update of Anakku’s baby products and events. It also provides some pregnancy and parenting information to the pregnant women.
In my opinion, the pregnancy and parenting information can have more content or articles so that able to educate the new mothers as well as new fathers. This, Johnson’s is doing better than Anakku. And the page is being named “Info” where I personally feel that is not that sound nice. I would suggest it to be name, “Parenting”, where it give the consumer and customer a clear cut of what the page is about.
The “Home” page can have more warm welcome of design. The music palying at the home page keep repeating and has no volume control or on/off button. Therefore, a music control button should be added on the website.
The “Events” page should update regularly as they have created the page. Currently, the page is empty with no events at all. Thus, this page can either update it with contents or eliminate it.
The page “Boutique” is well created by using 5 hat rack – Alphabet to arranged the name of the states where there is a boutique outlet or fancies. I would like to suggest that if a map of Malaysia with the numbers of boutiques in each states is added should be much more better. This is because, it enable consumer and customer to know where they can get to the boutique easily.
In addition, I would like to suggest that, a member login can be added where it enable members of Anakku to have more privileges on login the website. We can enable them to download the articles for easy readability, to check their reward points and redeem the their prizes through the internet.

Client’s Analysis

“Anakku” is a name synonymous with every parent’s pride and joy and is defined simply as my child. It is a home-grown brand that has become so widely accepted in many household since 1973. Anakku celebrated it’s 30th anniversary in Malaysia in 2003, signifying a commitment that had endured in providing the best in baby-care products.
Anakku’s wide range of baby products, built on a strong, solid foundation of premium quality, safety and reliability, are found in most department stores and major retail chains as well as having it’s very own boutiques.
Anakku understood that caring for a baby is more than merely having comfortable and lasting attire. With the expansion of the company it also ventured to include a more comprehensive product range by introducing fashion-wear for babies and toddlers, feeding equipment, toiletries, diapers, accessories, strollers, playpens and more.
As anakku grew from strength to strength, it realized the need to exceed expectations by featuring a one-stop baby center. Anakku baby connection was thus established, a chain of anakku boutiques that showcases its full range of products.
Anakku takes pride in making the world a happier place for babies and parents. After all there is no greater love than a parent’s love for his or her child. From baby apparel to accessories, every Anakku product embodies the qualities of love, comfort and safety.
As a brand name that takes babies’ well-being to heart, Anakku has made charitable contributions to the less fortunate as part of its corporate culture. Among the many projects undertaken by Anakku were the “Celebration of Love” and “Labour of Love” campaigns where the company donated RM250,000 (US$1.00 = RM3.80) and RM150,000 respectively.
Recently, Anakku launched the “Touch a Home” charity drive where RM250,000 was set aside to refurbish ten selected childrens’ homes. Anakku engaged the services of home improvement professionals for this task whilst its own staff brought cheer to the children through songs, games and tuition. These are just some of the many charitable acts Anakku has undertaken over the years.

Short & Long-term Site Goals

As for short-term goals, a member login should be the most concern one. In my opinion, I think that Anakku should well make use of its membership system.
Therefore, I would like to suggest that, a member login to be added to enable members of Anakku to have more privileges on login the website. They download the articles for easy readability, to check their reward points and redeem the their prizes through the internet. This will help them to access the website frequently and know the latest updates.
This short-term goal will help to bring ford the long-term goal where it build a strong relationship between Anakku and its customers. Relationship between a company and customers is the key to a successful company.

Target Audience

The target audience of Anakku mostly should be the new parents and pregnant women. They probably wants to know about the latest baby products and information about parenting. Deep in their heart, they would like to try their very best to give the best to their baby.

Secondary target audience should be the existing parents, especially members of Anakku. They would want to find out more on the latest trend of baby products too. Furthermore, they would like to know the latest events of Anakku and to check their reward points and to redeem their prize.

Competitor’s Analysis

The primary competitor of Anakku should be Huggies. Huggies is a worldwide baby products store since 1988. It is one of the greatest brand in America and also some others Europe countries. Majority of the people will trust imported products more than local products. That is why, I think Huggies is the primary competitor of Anakku.
The secondary competitor should be Fiffy. Fiffy is one of the leading names in baby products in Malaysia. With over 600 outlets and counters, Fiffy clothing and babycare products are easily available throughout the country. Fiffy’s focus has always been on providing the highest quality products at competitive prices. We are always keeping abreast with the latest trends and focus on having style, durability and value in all products.
Lastly, the tertiary competitor of Anakku should be Johnson’s. Johnson’s is also very well known in Malaysia. Johnson’s is a sub-company from Johnson & Johnson, the world’s largest, most comprehensive manufacturer of healthcare products and related services. Their products has been trusted by doctors, nurses, and parents around the world. Johnson’s products are mainly baby shampoo and powders.
